That's why the GPU vendors are chasing other reasons to upgrade - like ray tracing. Video game prices have plummeted in the last twenty years relative to inflation, so even the big AAA games couldn't justify spending more on development. Your four year old GPU works fine because building games that pump even more triangles, and ever larger levels and sophisticated geometry, more detailed textures and whatnot means more money spent producing them. The problem is less hardware stagnation, and more costs of development skyrocketing. Diet isn't getting it done with asshole corporations selling these people cheap poison, and water tasting like sulfuric asshole in many parts of the country. It feels horrendous to get in shape once you're fat, so we need to figure something else out. I'd love to see the US actually invest in this stuff to help the younger generation out, but we still have this stigma that every fat person is a lazy piece of worthless shit, so we have healthy people pretty much saying "OK GUYS, JUST DON'T BE FAT 4HEAD", and calling it "awareness". Kids would certainly be the first to shed the pounds. I think this would be a HELL of a good way to get that percentage to drop, if even by only 5-10%. Your body once seriously obese pretty much intends on staying that way, and you have to have some serious mental fortitude to fix the situation. It makes you want to stop moving or being active at all because nothing feels good. The problem is that the adoption rates for funding this stuff publicly are going to be difficult, because you know people are going to quit using it and jump right on the keyboard/mouse or controller because they aren't able to do what they want to do. It'd be like Pokemon Go or Wii Fit on an entirely new level. And playing these games would probably get people in much better shape, too. That's why Crysis 1 still looks excellent nearly 11 years later.Ībsolutely. Fortunately, around 2005, we finally hit a point where future games wouldn't suffer the same pixel rot the old ones did because screen sizes began hitting their max practical limits and resolutions became more standardized so each new generation is just double the density of the last rather than some weird 1.3x that causes scaling artifacts. Also, a few of them used certain peculiarities of CRT displays to aid their appearance, and that is lost with the transition to LCD. The reason super-old games often make our eyes bleed today is because they're blown up to a screen size they were never intended to be displayed on they genuinely do look worse than they did back then because we're more able to see their limitations. Basically, because screen sizes were smaller, the lower resolution wasn't as noticeable because it was harder to see it anyway. There's also the fact that, in the original Doom era, standard screen resolution was 640x480 and your typical screen size was 15 to 17 inches. Click here for a list of other gaming subreddits.
